New York, 13 – 16 May 2013
PRESENTING A SEASON OF POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY ICONS INCLUDING CAREER MASTERPIECES BY POLLOCK, LICHTENSTEIN, BASQUIAT AND MORE
On the heels of November’s record-breaking auctions of Post-War and Contemporary art, which achieved the highest series total in auction history, our specialists have curated an extraordinary line-up for the Spring season that includes auctions, private sales events and a special Evening Sale charity auction.
Presenting masterpieces from Abstract Expressionism through Pop Art and Contemporary, our May auctions pay tribute to some of the century’s most inspiring and influential artists, including Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Continuing with Christie’s success with works from distinguished private collections, we are also honored to feature a range of superlative works from the Collection of Celeste and Armand Bartos and the Estate of Andy Williams.
Alongside our auctions, we are delighted to collaborate with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation on a charity auction entitled The 11th Hour to benefit environmental causes. Also on view in May will be a special survey exhibition dedicated to the late American sculptor Ruth Asawa.
